Our mid pregnancy detailed anatomy check can be carried out between 20 to 24 weeks. At this stage your baby is fully formed and this 30 minute scan allows us to accurately assess the anatomy in detail.

Is the Detailed Anatomy scan right for me?
The Anomaly scan is offered to everybody by the National Health Service, with the purpose of determining the presence of rare conditions including those of the spine, brain or heart. You may decide to come to us for a Detailed Anatomy check for the following:

If the NHS were unable to complete the Anatomy check due to the position of baby on the day
What checks are carried out in the Detailed Anatomy scan?
Our Specialist Sonographer will complete a comprehensive ultrasound scan to check your baby’s brain, face, lips, heart, spine, stomach, kidneys and limbs.
The placenta, amniotic fluid and umbilical cord will also be checked.
How will the scan be performed?
The detailed anatomy check will be carried our transabdominally, by scanning over your tummy.
What extras will the scan include?
Following the scan, you will be provided with the following to take home with you:
Full obstetric report including gestational age and estimated weight
Three black and white photos (optional extra prints available on request)
Will you tell me if you find a problem?
We will give you a detailed explanation of our findings, and anything unexpected will be discussed with your midwife or Obstetrician, with your permission. Our Sonographers will be able to talk to you if you have any additional questions or concerns.
