Wellbeing Of My Baby
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I need to cancel or amend my appointment?
In order to secure your appointment we take a £25 deposit at the time of booking. We are happy to reschedule your appointment without a loss of deposit if 24hours notice is provided. Unfortunately if the notice period has not been given we will have to retain the deposit to ensure that it is fair for patients requiring appointments.
Can I be scanned if I’m pregnant with twins?
Absolutely! We do take a £30 surcharge for scanning twins, as extra time is required to ensure that all of the relevant wellbeing checks can be done on both babies. Please ensure that the ‘Twin Reassurance’ or ‘Twin Gender’ option is selected when booking to ensure that enough time is provided for your scan.
What if I’m too early to see anything on ultrasound?
We can scan you from 6 weeks onwards (this is calculated from the first day of your last period). If you arrive at your appointment and our measurements make you slightly earlier than this then we will book you in for a complimentary rescan to ensure that baby is growing as expected (provided your last period dates make you at least 6 weeks).
Please use the following link to ensure that you are at least 6 weeks pregnant if unsure:

What if you can’t get the gender of my baby at my scan?
We will always try our utmost hardest to get the gender of your baby during your scan. If baby is not in the correct position on the day, we may ask you to go for a walk or try a cold drink to see if we can get baby moving! If we still don’t have any luck, we will get you back in for a complimentary rescan.
Will you tell me if you see any abnormalities?
Our priority in every scan is to check the wellbeing of your baby so if your Sonographer finds anything unusual, this will be discussed with you immediately, and the findings will be forwarded on to your midwife or care provider with your consent.
Can I purchase further pictures on the day?
Of course! You will be given three black and white glossy prints to take away with you, however if any more are required for friends or family, these will be £3.50 per print.
Do I need a full bladder for my scan?
We kindly ask that you come with a full bladder for your scan if you are having an early reassurance or a gender scan. It really helps to give us a much clearer view of baby!
Is there an age limit on who can be scanned?
You must be an adult (18 years and over) to be scanned at the clinic.
How many people can I bring along to the scan?
We know how exciting it is to share the experience of seeing your baby so we welcome four extra guests to your scan, including children.
Do I still need to go for my hospital scan if I come to you?
Yes, our scans are designed to be complimentary to the scans that you will receive by the NHS, so it is vital that you still attend these.
I would like to have regular checks throughout my pregnancy- is this possible?
Of course- you are welcome to book in individual scans via our website. We also offer several different packages which allow you to check in throughout the duration of your pregnancy. Please do give us a call to discuss booking a package.
Can I purchase a gift voucher?
We offer gift vouchers to treat a Mum to be. Please give us a call to purchase an e-voucher, or hard copies are also available in the clinic.
