Gender Scan
Gender scans are offered from 16 weeks, as the gender of your baby can be determined with ultrasound from this point (please note that this becomes more accurate from 17 weeks onwards).
From 17 weeks onwards if we’re unable to get a clear enough image/ determine the gender, a complimentary rescan will be provided.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Gender Scan right for you?
Many couples wish to know the gender of their baby for practical and social reasons. There are several indications for having this scan:
As a second opinion
If your NHS trust does not offer gender determination
To find out earlier than your 20-week anomaly scan at your NHS trust
What checks are carried out in the Gender Scan?
During the scan, the following basic checks will also be confirmed for you:
See and hear baby’s heartbeat
The position of baby and the placenta
The growth of baby
What extras will this scan include?
Following the scan, you will be provided with the following to take home with you:
Full obstetric report including gestational age and estimated due date
Three black and white thermal ultrasound pictures (optional extra prints available on request)
Short complimentary video clip sent directly to your mobile
4D sneak peek
How is the Gender Scan carried out?
Gender scans are undertaken ‘transabdominally’, by scanning over the top of your tummy.
Will you tell me if you find a problem?
Ultimately, the wellbeing of yourself and your baby is our highest priority.
For this reason, if any problem were identified during your scan, you would be informed by your Sonographer so that you can be checked at your next midwife/ hospital appointment. With your permission, we would contact your midwife/ GP on your behalf, to refer you on to them.
What do I need to do before my scan?
It’s useful to come for a full bladder so that we can get the best possible view of your baby. Please otherwise eat and drink as normal. It can also be a good idea to bring a chocolate bar or something sugary to have if baby is not in a favourable position on the day!
Can I bring my friends, family and children to the scan?
We usually welcome family and friends to appointments, and allow up to four extra people (excluding yourself and your partner) as it’s a lovely experience to share; however, please see our Coronavirus Preventative Measures on the main website for further up to date information on this.

Testimonials
What our patients say...
We had a really lovely experience here, it’s the first private scan we had and was well worth the money.
Eisher was so friendly and kind, made us both feel really comfortable. My partner felt a lot more involved seeing the larger screen.
I would highly recommend, always great to support small local businesses as well!

Lovely and friendly people, very clean. Massive screen on the wall for you to see the baby. The best Ultrasound Clinic I’ve been to.
Magdalena L
Easy to book, answered all questions we had just an amazing experience start to finish. Took our little girl in to me her new brother or sister and was welcomed by the staff which I know some places don’t allow young children in so this was a brilliant bonus. Would highly recommend to anyone.
