Concerns
Pregnancy Over 40
The number of first time births amongst women ages 40-44 is becoming increasingly common and has doubled in the last decade.
Advancements in technology surrounding fertility, pregnancy and delivery has allowed couples the chance to safely have a baby once they’re more financially and emotionally ready. Although it’s completely possible to have a baby later on in life, the risks associated may mean that your Obstetrician will want to keep a closer eye on you and baby throughout your pregnancy.
Some of these risks include:
- High blood pressure
- Gestational diabetes
- Ectopic pregnancy
- Small or large birth weight
